The perfect Union County After School Program is here with ABC Nannies like Amy who go above and beyond in taking care of children.

“I am an extremely happy, hard-working and high energy individual who loves to work with children. I come from a large, close-knit family of six, where children were treated as respected and cherished members of the family. I have been working in childcare for the last ten years and I love my experience with the Union County After School Program! I began as an aide in a preschool classroom. After college, I spent several months as a Nanny to a five and three year old, and then became an aide in a second grade classroom for children with special needs. I want to be a Nanny because I believe that providing a supportive, creatively active environment in the home is one of the best things that you can do for a child. And, it's a lot of fun! I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 10 years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel the children are the most important part of the family! They are creative, fun, and inquisitive: children are what make being a nanny one of the most fulfilling jobs around. My goal as a Nanny is to create a stable, supportive environment that encourages children to grow and learn to the best of their ability. I am willing to do housekeeping at request that includes laundry, dusting, vacuuming, and light cleaning in general. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am friendly, fun, warm, creative, supportive. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include outdoor activities (sports, the playground, etc.) baking, arts and crafts, music lessons (if the family would want them: I play piano, flute, and am a classically trained vocalist). We could even have multi-cultural days! I'm conversant in both French and Italian, and would love to plan a day where we make French food, and learn about the culture and the language! If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be A close-knit, warm family who is looking for a Nanny that would provide a support system, and a lot of fun!”

“She went ABOVE AND BEYOND the job requirements that were required! Amy was an amazing addition to my classroom! I am a teacher in a class of 5 children with autism. Each student requires a 1:1 teaching assistant in order to safely and effectively manage his/her school day. To fill this position a person must be flexible, creative and quick on her feet. Some of Amy’s responsibilities in my classroom included, but were not limited to; carrying out behavior modification plans, modifying work to meet each student’s ability level, providing reinforcement such as social praise, songs, stories, and video games, and maintaining a firm but kind and calm demeanor while dealing with behaviors such as kicking, hitting and destruction to property. Amy, having very little prior experience with children who have special needs, did an exceptional job. She was more than willing to do and learn anything necessary to help the children learn and enjoy school! I have had an amazingly positive experience with Amy and she is a great addition to the Union County After School Program. Often substitutes would avoid us because the children were "too difficult". Amy, however, showed up with a smile on her face and a willing attitude. She was an asset to the school, the teachers, and the children!”

“Amy went above and beyond when working with our children. She was reliable, wonderful, creative, kind, and firm when needed. My children instantly bonded with her and her with them. She has become an extension of our family. As I mentioned before, Amy went above and beyond when working with our family and I highly recommend her. She planned crafts and activities for the children, she took them out to play at local parks, the library- mostly on her own initiative. At the time, she was managing her time well; working for us, attending school, etc. She continued to be reliable and a good communicator. I truly believe she was meant to be around children and she would be an asset to any Union County After School Program; it is a gift that comes very naturally to Amy!”

“Amy captured the hearts of all the students of our preschool making each and every one of them feel special and truly loved. I have had many opportunities to observe Amy in the classroom as she has shown her abilities to truly care for children. Her kind nature shines through when she is interacting with the children. She is comfortable with any age and I have seen her bring out the best in many children - really touching their hearts with her gentle and nurturing personality. I would highly recommend her for any Union County After School Program!”
