Christa has wonderful ties to being a York County Tutor that highlights her devotion and care towards each and every child!

“I am light-hearted, kind, compassionate, trustworthy, and friendly. My goal is to make a difference in the life of a child! When I became a teacher, it was obvious that I had found my place in this world. I truly believed that there was no other place in which I could possibly be so happy. However, with continuously having to find new positions and with the state of education at present, I have become disillusioned by what is going on. I care deeply about working with children as I was a York County Tutor; seeing them develop into democratic individuals and contributing to our society; helping and then watching as they grow into themselves, develop beliefs that you help guide, assisting them with whatever they may need are just a few of the things that make working with children so rewarding. I do not want to leave this love behind altogether. Becoming a nanny gives the opportunity to bond with, provide for and assist in the development of a child. It basically envelops the same reasons that made me love teaching - just on a more personal basis. If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the Nanny profession over any other it would have to be because becoming a nanny provides me with the ability to use my teaching background and my love therein on a more personal basis that provides a deeper relationship between caregiver and child. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 16 years and can honestly say I adore what I do! I feel the children are unique, inquisitive, energetic, loving, and desire structure and stability. My goal as a Nanny is to provide each child with an environment in which they feel safe, secure, happy and cared for. I will provide your child with a stimulating atmosphere in which he/she can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. I am willing to do housekeeping that includes laundry for the children, preparing meals for the children, cleaning up the areas in which the children occupy, and errands. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include arts and crafts, storytelling, creative writing in various genres, and the use of our imaginations. I believe spending time outdoors is important when the weather permits. Reading together is a favorite pastime that I love to encourage and foster in children! We will go on outings when appropriate; i.e. the library, museums, the zoo, etc. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me through ABC's Yorkana Nanny Agency I would hope they would be one that truly puts their children before all else, compassionate, and have a strong belief in education and positive reinforcement!”

“I had the privilege of teaching with Christa for one school year. She created a classroom that was organized and structured while encouraging creativity and risk taking! She knew the strengths and weaknesses of each of her students and provided varied instruction to meet her students' individual needs. Those wonderful traits Christa obtained had come from her experience as a York County Tutor, where each child learns at a different pace and has distinct needs. Christa went above and beyond on numerous occasions providing unique and challenging experiences for her students. During one week her students spent their free time making paper, participating in every step of the process, culminating in a piece of their very own stationery. Christa became a valuable member of our faculty, winning the respect of the entire staff for her professionalism and dedication. Christa will be a valuable addition to any employer, and your children will benefit from her expertise!”

“Christa assumed a long-term position as a kindergarten teacher as well as a York County Tutor and was appointed to a permanent position. She developed an extremely effective teaching and learning program for her kindergarten students! Christa also developed a fine, balanced literacy program, emphasizing reader's and writer's workshops. Mini lessons were developed and individual conferences held, all on a very high level. In science and social studies, Christa worked on developing an inquiry-based program, utilizing "essential questions." In fact, she helped write the social studies and science new curriculum. Assessment is ongoing in this class as Christa administered a special kindergarten assessment that emphasized concepts about print and has administered the reading assessment. She also developed excellent relationships with her parents! Her rapport with the students was excellent as they were motivated to achieve and to do their best. Christa became an important member of our staff, just as I am sure she will be an important asset to ABC's Yorkana Nanny Agency, and I highly recommend her!”

“I had the pleasure of working with Christa for three years in my capacity as Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant. I found Christa to be an effective professional educator who maintained an organized and structured classroom environment! She has also demonstrated an ability to be highly flexible when scheduling classified students and wining to make appropriate instructional accommodations and modifications of materials for these students within the regular education curricula. When working with parents and other professionals during IEP meetings, she presents a caring style and an approach that has always focused on the needs of the respective student which she really picked up on from being a York County Tutor. I believe that Christa is a strong professional who would be a viable and effective addition to your home. I recommend her for employment without reservation!”

“My daughter had the opportunity to be taught by Christa both in kindergarten and 2nd grade. In kindergarten, Christa took over for another teacher who went out on maternity leave. Christa made the transition smooth as she had prior experience from being a York County Tutor, easy, and an all-around wonderful experience for Maggie! My daughter moved on to first grade as a secure, engaged learner. How excited Maggie and I were that Maggie would have Christa again in 2nd grade! In the second grade, Maggie exceled at writing, improved her math skills, and enjoyed programs begun by Christa, including a Wednesday Homework Club. Christa knew Maggie, and she was able to reach her on many different levels. I was highly impressed by this skill! Christa will shine like a star in your home, and your children will benefit from her care!”

“Christa was a student teacher at the school in which I work, and then went on to be a permanent substitute for her cooperating teacher who was on maternity leave for two months as well as a York County Tutor. During this time, I found Christa to be highly motivated, very well organized, and prepared each day with excellent lesson plans! She was always upbeat and cooperative with her peers and administration, and quickly became a contributing member of the faculty in the short time she was on staff. Christa developed a wonderful rapport with the students so that the transition from their classroom teacher to her was smooth and not at all disruptive to the flow of the learning process. She is confident and comfortable in the classroom and her teaching reflects a creativity that promotes maximum student learning across the curriculum. She demonstrates excellent classroom management skills that facilitate the student learning experience. She proved herself to be a conscientious worker who possesses the dedication and compassion necessary to be a truly successful educator. Her teaching reflects a sincere love and enjoyment of children! She will be an asset to any employer!”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Christa in my capacity as Director of a Day Camp. Christa held the position of senior counselor for a group of eighteen prekindergarten girls. In addition, Christa was the bus supervisor for a transportation route and a York County Tutor. Christa is a terrific young woman! She always put her campers' needs before her own and demonstrated patience and sensitivity in handling difficult camper situations. Christa established creative reinforcement schedules, sought and accepted advice from her supervisors, and demonstrated positive energy even through the toughest days. Christa was placed in a very difficult position and I am truly grateful for the wisdom she demonstrated! During the third week of an eight-week session, a camper in her group suddenly became ill with meningitis and passed away within twenty-four hours. During a time when there was 'panic' in our camping community, Christa stayed focused on the wellbeing of her group. She was back in her position the next day and with the help of professional guidance, worked through this tragedy for her junior staff and her girls. Christa answered difficult questions, gave assurances, stayed positive and provided an optimum environment for the remaining five weeks. Her entire group is re-enrolled for this, upcoming season and I attribute this to Christa. In addition to running her group, Christa's responsibilities included weekly evaluations of her campers' progress as well as weekly information sheets that were sent home to parents. Her writing was precise, informative, and always accentuating the positive. She is an effective communicator! Christa's responsibilities as a bus counselor included the safety of her campers to and from camp, entertainment during the bus ride, and parent contact to answer questions and mediate concerns. Both her bus campers and their parents adored her! Working at the Camp is not an easy position. Christa's summer could not have been more challenging, and she handled these challenges with poise and maturity. I enjoyed working with this talented young woman!”
