Frequently Asked Questions

From the moment of registration to being hired, how long does this process typically take?

The process may vary for each household, as every family's needs are different. However, based on our observations, most families tend to hire a Nanny after considering three to five potential candidates. Our goal is to offer ongoing support to help you identify the best candidate for your family as efficiently as possible.

Hours of Operation?

Our placement counselors at ABC Nanny Source are here to assist you Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Are there a sufficient number of nannies available?

At any given time of the year, we have a wide range of Nannies available for placement. Nonetheless, the demand for our exceptional high caliber Nannies is consistently high, which occasionally limits their availability. We firmly adhere to our rigorous procedures and refuse to compromise them just to have a large pool of Nannies to select from. Our meticulous selection process sets our Nannies apart from others in our database.

How are taxes managed? What is the procedure for dealing with taxes? How are taxes processed and handled by the system?

We strongly endorse GTM Payroll Services as the preferred option for household employee payroll. We highly recommend every family that hires an ABC Nanny to utilize the services provided by GTM Payroll Services. This agency has established a remarkable relationship with our families and nannies and specializes in household employee payroll.

Are there any additional advantages or perks that I should consider offering the nanny?

While ABC Nanny Source does not have the authority to determine the benefits, it is worth noting that families striving to attract and retain highly sought-after Nannies should consider offering a comprehensive benefit package. This package should ideally incorporate a vacation allowance of typically 2 weeks for full-time employment - with one week aligned with the family's vacation plans and the remaining week at the nanny's discretion. Furthermore, it should also include paid major holidays and sick leave.

Are we obligated to employ the nanny we hire for a minimum of one year?

No. The entire responsibility lies on the Nanny and ABC Nanny Source. Your family is not obliged to continue paying the nanny or provide employment if you no longer require her services. ABC Nannies must sign a one year commitment agreement to be accepted, and the agency provides a one year guarantee to each family in the unlikely event that issues arise with the hired nanny. However, your family is not obligated to continue paying her salary if you no longer need nanny services for any reason, such as relocation, parent's job loss, or a decision for the mother to stay at home. This advantage is significantly better than that offered by AuPair Agencies or agencies providing nannies from outside the local area.

Is there any kind of training involved in becoming a Nanny in SD?

In order to be accepted into our database, all applicants must hold a valid CPR Certification as a requirement stated by ABC Nanny Source.

How does the one-year guarantee work?

Simply put, if your nanny is not a good fit for any reason during the one year time frame, we will help you find a new nanny. Rest assured, this occurs very rarely and we take pride in that fact.

Do you have bi-lingual nannies?

Yes, the first requirement for all nannies is to be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English, as stated by our placement counselor. Additionally, many of our professional nannies are fluent in other languages including Spanish, French, and Sign Language. If you have a preference for nannies with proficiency in these languages, please make sure to inform your assigned placement counselor. They will take this into consideration when selecting suitable candidates for your position.

Is ABC Nanny Source a National Company or a local SD Nanny Agency?

At ABC Nanny Source, we pride ourselves on being a family owned agency rather than an impersonal National agency. As a result, we emphasize the importance of every candidate that comes to us for employment meeting our strict screening standards. We do not make any exceptions to this rule, as it is crucial for ensuring the best possible experience for our families.

What payment methods are accepted?

Does ABC Nanny Source offer live in and live out Nannies?

ABC Nanny Source is an expert in providing both live in and live out childcare options. Our agency ensures that all live out nannies are placed within a 30 minute radius of their residence. This means that every candidate your family considers will be conveniently local!

We only need an occassional weekend babysitter – Can you help with that?

All ABC Nannies are focused on finding career opportunities, rather than accepting short term or casual assignments. It is important to note that our permanent part time Nannies do have a requirement of a minimum of 25 hours per week.

What is the cost involved in hiring a SD nanny through ABC Nanny Source?

Full Time Live Out and Live In Nannies are available to support families on a regular basis, working 40 to 55+ hours per week. These nannies come at a cost of 14% of their anticipated gross salary, with a minimum fee of $3400. Families can be assured of the quality of our nannies as we offer a ONE-YEAR GUARANTEE.
Part-time live-out nannies, who provide assistance for weekly needs ranging from 25 to 39 hours per week, can be obtained at a cost of 16% of the nanny's expected gross salary, with a minimum fee of $2800. Additionally, our services come with a one-year guarantee. Part Time Live Out Nannies ONE-YEAR GUARANTEE

How do you specifically choose the nannies for our particular family?

When "harmonizing" nannies with families, there are various aspects that are taken into consideration. One important factor pertains to distance for live-out candidates. Each live-out nanny is carefully placed within a 30-minute radius of their home. Hence, every candidate presented to your family will be local and familiar with the area. Another key consideration is ensuring that each prospective nanny feels completely comfortable with your family description and the specific needs and requests you have. We only recommend candidates who have relevant experience and are at ease with the age of your children. For instance, if you have a newborn, we will exclusively present candidates who are proficient in and enjoy working with babies! Additionally, your counselor will diligently select nannies who are in the same salary range as your family's request. During the initial consultation, your counselor will ask you questions about the preferred characteristics of the candidate you are seeking (such as being bubbly, professional, religious, nurturing, etc.). We make a significant effort to consider these criteria when identifying the best possible match for your family. Furthermore, any pets your family may have that could potentially interfere with the nanny's allergies are also taken into consideration. The matching process requires a lot of effort, but it is all aimed at achieving the desired results!

How do I know that every candidate that I'm considering is safe?

Our comprehensive 10 Step Screening Process ensures that only trustworthy and qualified nannies are introduced to your family. We understand the importance of inviting the right individuals into your home and take every imaginable measure to ensure the safety and security of your loved ones. Our process includes thorough verification of all references, obtaining clearances for criminal background checks, conducting negative 5 panel drug tests through Quest Diagnostics, confirming vehicle registration, professionally verifying identity, and ensuring CPR certifications. Rest assured, we go the extra mile to provide you with peace of mind knowing that only the most reliable caregivers will be entrusted with the care of your family.
