Frequently Asked Questions from Connecticut Nannies

Ready to start? Great! Here are some frequently asked questions and answers to prepare you:

Why should I go through ABC Nanny Source for employment?

Wonderful and important question! ABC Nanny Source is a highly respected Connecticut Nanny agency that has a long-standing relationship with high caliber families and childcare providers in the area. We are committed to provide each family and Nanny with a long lasting relationship that they can depend on. The majority of our Nannies are able to secure a position for several years while benefitting from the greater salary and benefit package from going through ABC Nanny Source. We do everything we can to make sure we are providing only the finest quality Nannies to our families and in turn our Nannies are richly rewarded with outstanding positions that are highly sought after in the industry!

So, will I be working for ABC Nanny Source?

Not at all. ABC Nanny Source is a Nanny Referral Agency, and while we conduct and schedule all of the interviews and screening processes, you will be a direct employee of the family that chooses to hire you.

What about taxes?

ABC Nanny Source offers families several resources that can assist them with the payment of household employees, but does not dictate how the family should handle taxes. Typically families will utilize an outside payroll agency to handle the entire process for them, hassle-free.

What kind of salary can I expect to earn as a Nanny?

This varies according to a few different aspects. Your pay will be determined by the job description, how many children the family has, and most importantly the experience you have to offer to the family. We have your very best interest in mind when negotiating your position and will make sure that you are presented with a generous and very fair employment offer. There are many benefits from having ABC Nanny Source negotiate your offer, one of which is that you will be able to completely avoid the topic of salary and paid time off, which can sometimes be very uncomfortable if you are trying to do this on your own. Typically most full time positions will offer a salary anywhere from $500-$800+ per week and part time positions offer an hourly rate anywhere from $13-$18+ per hour based on the factors mentioned above.

How much experience should I have?

Our network of CT Nannies consists of childcare providers that have a variety of backgrounds and different experiences to offer. Some are mothers themselves whose children are grown or are in full time school, many are certified elementary or high school teachers and many are professional Nannies who have been serving in the industry for several years. All applicants must have prior verifiable childcare experience. In order to be considered for a position with ABC Nanny Source we will also need to verify any education credentials.

Will I need to drive for my position as a Nanny?

In order to become an ABC Nanny, you are required to have a valid driver’s license and have an insured, reliable vehicle. Many families will request that the Nanny they hire is able to help with the children's transportation to and from activities or doctor visits. The requests from families to drive can vary greatly and each situation is different. It can depend on the age and activity level of the children. This information will be disclosed prior to your acceptance of the position. If driving is a requirement of the family, you will be notified as to whether you are required to use your own personal vehicle or if a vehicle will be provided for you by the parents.

What do I need to do to apply for a Connecticut Nanny Job?

Initially start by completing our online Nanny Registration form and a Scheduling Coordinator will contact you for a preliminary telephone interview. We will discuss what requirements we set forth in order to be considered for a position. We will ask several questions to determine what kind of position you are looking for and if you have the qualifications that our families are looking for. Then, you will come meet us for a face-to-face interview! Once it has been determined that you will be an asset to our database and you are ready to get started, you will be requested to fill out a lot of paperwork. There will be forms releasing ABC Nanny Source to perform necessary Criminal, DMV & Background checks. We will also need to make copies of your driver’s license and social security card along with taking your photograph and fingerprints. You will also be required to pass a drug test within 72 hours of being offered to join ABC Nanny Source. Once you have completed the training and we have your clearances verified, we will immediately start looking for an ideal nanny position. In most cases, you will likely begin interviewing with local families within the week!

Apply today to become a Connecticut Nanny through ABC Nanny Source! We look forward to speaking with you soon!
