"What impressed me the most about working with ABC Nanny Source was the level of detail and organization in which such confidential information was presented. I received an extensive profile of each nanny candidate prior to her coming to my home for an interview. Once each nanny arrived at my door, I was fully relaxed because I felt I already knew the person in front of me! That’s how detailed these profiles were. The process was made very easy for our family and within a matter of days, I hired the perfect nanny for our children!"

Melissa is an ABC Kirkland Mother's Helper because it allows to be a positive role-model to the children!

“I go beyond the normal duties of a nanny by exhibiting a true love for the children. I make it possible for parents to go to work with absolutely no worries about the child's care while they are away and that I continue to expand my knowledge by reading about child development. Having younger siblings, sometimes I had to care for my brothers and sister when we were younger to help my parents around the house. These opportunities enabled me to learn to work together and be independent. It taught me how to be organized, be responsible, own my mistakes and learn from them. Children have amazing minds. It is like a sponge. It absorbs so much of everything that happens around them. With a lot of nurturing especially in their formative years, their capacity for learning is incredible. I feel that this is an opportunity to take advantage of and provide them with an enriching and stimulating childhood. Providing their daily social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs is essential to their development. Consistency in routines and discipline and follow through on daily child related decisions and issues are key to making them feel secure and happy. I try to incorporate these principles daily in my dealings with them. It is a big responsibility to be around the children and know that I was a big influence in their lives, but watching their development into adulthood is an experience I will treasure and consider a privilege. Having good communication with the parents about what happened to their children daily is important. Keeping parents informed as much as possible -- verbally or with daily journals or photographs makes everyone connected. I believe it greatly benefits the children when the parents are involved in their children's lives as much as possible. Spending time with the children gives one a completely different perspective on life. The innocence and the wonder of the world around them that they exhibit are so refreshing. Having the responsibility of being a second mother to them is an experience I would treasure and consider a privilege. If I were asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the nanny profession over any other it would have to be that it is a nurturing and rewarding profession. I love watching the children's development from babies to adulthood. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 20 years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel the children are amazing. They have an incredible capacity for knowledge. They absorb so much of everything that happens to the world around them. With a lot of nurturing especially in their formative years, they can learn so much. We should grab this opportunity to give them an enriching and stimulating childhood. My goal as a Kirkland Mother’s Helper is to nurture the child and help raise them to be responsible, upstanding adults according to their parent’s value system, as well as be the parent’s communication link as to what is happening to their child when they are away. I am willing to do light chores. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives, I would say that I am nurturing, responsible, organized, considerate, and reliable. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a nanny like me I would hope they would be parents that really love their children and show genuine interests in the children's daily life. I hope to find a family that value spending as much quality time with their children as a top priority.”

“Melissa started with us when we only had a two-year-old girl and remained with us ultimately taking care of our three children, 2 girls and a boy. As two working parents whose hours included overnight and weekends, Melissa's schedule was rather intense. She was indispensable helping to raise our children and subsequently has become a significant part of our family. Her duties included, but were not limited to, caring for our children, driving them to and from their various school and sport activities and doing the children's laundry. When our children were young, she would keep a photo-journal to keep us abreast of their daily activities. Most importantly however, she showed a true dedication assisting us in instilling good values in our children. By being consistent with our value system, Melissa was able to keep a continuity that the children learned to respect and understand. We had other employees prior to Melissa, and none had the same level of commitment in raising children as their own as Melissa had with ours. She was not invasive but supportive. The children grew to appreciate and love her. She would always keep them engaged finding many activities to keep them busy. As our children got older, she would make sure they would complete their homework. If we were not home, she would make sure they were fed dinner. We knew her to be safe, trustworthy and reliable. We did not worry about the kids under her charge, which is the highest compliment one can give to a Kirkland Mother’s Helper. This allowed us to occasionally travel for a week at a time without being mired in concern or fear for our children's care. Over the years, she has truly become part of the family. Our children are now grown, and we are sorry to see her move on. We know she will always be a part of our family and someone with whom we will continue to remain in touch.”

“Melissa has been employed by me as a Kirkland Mother’s Helper for my daughter. Her duties have included driving my daughter to and from school, assisting her with reading, writing, and piano practice: accompanying her to doctor and therapy appointments. She has also been responsible for my daughter's laundry and meals (breakfast and lunch). Her household duties have included grocery shopping, running errands and very light housekeeping activities. Melissa is very mature and responsible. She has shown this in a number of ways “

“Melissa is a wonderful Kirkland Mother’s Helper. My husband and I have been extremely happy with her. She has cared for our daughter from the time she was 17 months until now when she is almost 3 years old. She is very reliable, and prepared for any emergency. She makes it possible to go to work with absolutely no worries about your child's care while you are away. She is great with our daughter. They have a very good relationship. She has a lot of experience and she continues to expand her knowledge by reading about child development. She won't volunteer advice, but if you ask for information she can be a great resource. As first-time parents, we were often grateful for that. Melissa kept a diary of their activities for us which included crafts, the library, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, museums, play dates with other kids, naps, nutritious meals, etc. Never a dull moment!”
