Sample questions to ask your NY NannyWhen it comes time for your interview with your potential NY nanny, you may draw a blank on questions you want to ask. Here are a few sample questions to help make the interviewing process a little easier!

1. Please tell me about yourself. (Allow the candidate to elaborate freely)

2. What about this particular position appeals to you most?

3. What age group of children would you say you feel most comfortable working with? Why?

4. How long have you been in the nanny profession?

5. What prompted you to become a NY Nanny as your career?

6. Of the positions you have held in the past; what position would you say was your most positive and least positive experience and why?

7. What means of communication have you utilized with parents you have worked for in the past? Are you accustomed to leaving a daily journal? If not, would you be willing to do so if offered this position?

8. What activities would you plan for the children during the day?

9. Are you comfortable taking children to and from activities?

10. Do you have a familiarity with any of the nannies in the NY area already?

11. How familiar are you with the area we live in?

12. Please tell me a little bit about your childcare experience.

13. What would you say makes you stand apart from other nannies the agency may be offering to us for interviews?

14. What would you do if you encountered a health emergency with my child?

15. Do you do any volunteer work in the local New York community?

16. Do you have any planned vacations coming up?

17. How do you feel about working with the pets in our home?

18. What are your thoughts related to discipline?

27. When was the last time you worked directly with a child that is the same age as my son/daughter?

29. How flexible is your schedule? Will you be available for evening and/or weekend hours if absolutely necessary with advanced notice?
