FAQ's About Georgia Nanny Jobs through ABC Nanny Source

What kind of compensation can I expect as a Georgia Nanny with ABC Nanny Source?

Salary depends on a number of factors. Each family will have varying needs to varying degrees, which will have an affect on the salary range being offered for the nanny position. Any prior experience or educational credentials will of course be taken into consideration. As for the number of hours you will be on duty, this will be decided when negotiating your salary or hourly rate with the family, which you will not have to do yourself. Your personal ABC Nanny Source Placement Counselor will discuss and negotiate on your behalf to provide you with the best salary/hourly rate possible, in addition to included benefits such as vacation, holidays, sick time, and medical. We will cover all the bases to make the offer official and competitive!

With ABC Nanny Source, most part-time permanent nannies earn $18-$25 an hour. Full-time permanent nannies receive their pay as a weekly salary, rather than an hourly rate, which will fall in the range of $700-$1,000+. Each situation will of course vary, but most will offer additional vacation, sick time, and holiday compensation.

How should I apply for a Georgia Nanny job?

To begin, you should complete our online Nanny Registration Form, after which an ABC Placement Counselor will reach out to perform a preliminary telephone interview. During this interview, we will discuss requirements you must meet to be considered for a position, and we will get a general outline of the kind of position you’re looking for to ensure you have the credentials necessary for those families.

Once we’ve determined that you are ready to get started, you can get started filling out paperwork! These forms will include necessary release forms that allow ABC Nanny Source to perform Criminal, Background, and Driving Motor Vehicle checks. In addition to these, we will require copies of your social security card, driver’s license, CPR certification if already certified, and work authorization card if necessary. Finally, we will arrange for your meeting with a third-party identity verification specialist and schedule a drug test that you will complete at a Quest Diagnostics lab of your choice.

There are a lot of steps, but that’s only because we take childcare very seriously and will only accept candidates that share that belief! Once the necessary steps have been completed, we will begin the search for the ideal nanny position for you immediately! Nanny profiles often get sent to local Georgia families within the week!

What level of experience should I have?

The nannies in our network hail from a variety of backgrounds, with many different levels of experience to offer. Some have children of their own who are now grown or attend school full-time, others used to be preschool teachers. Many of our nannies have teaching certificates for elementary or high school, and most are professional nannies who have dedicated years to serving in this industry!

Anyone who applies must have some sort of prior childcare experience, which will be verified before hire as ABC Nanny Source investigates all personal references and education credentials.

Will I be required to drive for my position as a nanny?

For the most part, you will need to be able and willing to drive upon request. Some families need their nanny to drive daily in order to run errands or pick up a few forgotten groceries, in addition to transporting their children to school, extra curriculars, doctor appointments, or other activities. This being said, other families may rarely if ever ask you to drive, depending on how old the children are. This subject is of course something that will be agreed upon prior to signing the employment agreement. If you do end up being required to drive, we will also negotiate whether you will use a provided car or your personal vehicle.

No matter if your potential family will need you to drive, ABC Nanny Source does require that all our nannies be authorized drivers with valid driver’s license and have a vehicle that is registered and insured.

Will I be considered an employee of ABC Nanny Source?

Because we are a Nanny Referral Agency, you will be considered an employee of the family who hires you, rather than of ABC Nanny Source. Our responsibility as an agency is to complete all the necessary screening, including interviews, background checks, etc. to get you the most well-fitting position and to give the family a nanny they can trust and will hopefully come to love.

What does this mean for taxes?

Though ABC Nanny Source does not tell families how they should handle taxes, we do recommend organizations that ease the process and find that many families hire outside sources to handle the payroll.

How long will finding a nanny position take?

Assuming you comply with drug testing and all the requirements to become fully registered, you can expect your profile to be sent to families within just one week of acceptance! Your online profile will be sent only to families who are seeking a nanny in your area—most often within a simple 30-minute radius of your home.

Our families take time reviewing several of our nanny profiles so they can choose the candidate they think would be best suited for their household and situation. Simultaneously, you will also receive a summary of the available position; if you are interested, we will follow up with a full profile of the family for your consideration. If the family in question wishes to send you an offer of employment, we will negotiate on your behalf for a generous salary and benefits package for you. Once the family is ready, you will be notified of an official offer of employment, or whether the position has been filled. Typically, this notification will come in a matter of days, after the family has spent time reviewing three to five candidates. During this time, we will continue showing you other families in search of a nanny to allow you the most exposure!
